At City Moon Business, all rental vehicles are provided with comprehensive car insurance, subject to the insurer’s terms, conditions, limits, exclusions, and applicable law in the Sultanate of Oman.

This page provides a general summary of the insurance information that may apply to your rental. It is intended for general guidance only and does not replace the rental agreement, the insurer’s policy wording, or any legal requirement.

1. General Insurance Coverage

1.1 All rental vehicles are provided with comprehensive car insurance, subject to the insurer’s terms, conditions, limits, exclusions, and requirements.

1.2 Insurance coverage applies only where the renter complies with the rental agreement, City Moon Business policies, and the applicable laws and regulations of the Sultanate of Oman.

1.3 Insurance information on this page is a general summary only. Final coverage, exclusions, procedures, and liabilities are governed by the applicable insurance policy and the signed rental agreement.

2. Loss and Damage Waiver (LDW)

2.1 In the event of accidental damage to the rental vehicle, the renter’s financial liability may be limited as follows:

  • 150 OMR if the renter is 25 years or older
  • 200 OMR if the renter is under 25 years old

2.2 The above liability limits apply only where the renter has complied with the rental terms, insurance conditions, and all legal requirements.

2.3 Minor repairs, scratches, or small damages are not covered under the LDW liability limit and remain the renter’s responsibility.

2.4 For repairable damage, the renter may be responsible for the actual repair cost where that amount is lower than the applicable liability limit.

3. Third-Party Liability Coverage

3.1 Insurance may include third-party liability coverage in accordance with the insurer’s policy terms and the applicable legal requirements.

3.2 This coverage generally relates to covered third-party bodily injury or property damage arising from the use of the rental vehicle, subject to the applicable insurance terms, limits, and exclusions.

4. What the Renter Must Do in the Event of an Accident or Damage

4.1 The renter must notify City Moon Business immediately if any accident, collision, theft, warning light, damage, malfunction, overheating, or breakdown occurs during the rental period.

4.2 In the event of an accident, the renter must also report the incident to the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and obtain an official police report where required.

4.3 The renter must not carry out, approve, or arrange any repair without prior approval from City Moon Business.

4.4 All repairs must be handled by City Moon Business or by approved service providers only.

5. Important Insurance Exclusions and Limitations

Insurance coverage may not apply, or may be reduced or rejected, in situations including but not limited to the following:

  • use by an unauthorized driver
  • off-road driving or use outside permitted areas
  • driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or prohibited substances
  • reckless driving, drifting, racing, dangerous driving, or illegal use
  • misuse, gross negligence, or serious breach of the rental agreement or company policies
  • prohibited commercial use, including ride-sharing, taxi use, or other unauthorized business use
  • failure to report the incident properly or obtain required police documentation
  • unauthorized repair, alteration, or handling of the vehicle
  • damage or loss involving personal belongings left inside the vehicle

6. Minor Damage and Small Repairs

6.1 Minor damage, scratches, paint damage, wheel damage, interior damage, or other small repair items may remain the renter’s responsibility even where comprehensive insurance exists.

6.2 Where applicable, the renter may be charged the actual repair cost for minor or repairable damage.

7. Breakdowns and Mechanical Issues

7.1 If the vehicle breaks down during the rental period, the renter must contact City Moon Business immediately.

7.2 The renter will be responsible for repair costs only where the breakdown is caused by the renter’s fault, including negligence, misuse, overheating, failure to respond to warning lights, use of the wrong fuel, or failure to take reasonable care of the vehicle.

8. Insurance Procedure Assistance

8.1 If assistance is needed to complete insurance procedures, City Moon Business may be able to arrange support through an agent, depending on the case.

8.2 Agent assistance charges may range from 30 OMR to 100 OMR, depending on the complexity of the case.

8.3 Any such assistance remains subject to availability and does not change the renter’s own responsibilities under the rental agreement, insurance process, or applicable law.

9. No Guarantee Beyond Policy Terms

9.1 This page does not create a separate insurance contract and does not expand the insurer’s obligations beyond the actual insurance policy in force.

9.2 City Moon Business does not guarantee that every loss, damage, or incident will be covered. Coverage always remains subject to the insurer’s policy wording, the circumstances of the case, the renter’s conduct, and compliance with the rental terms.
